ETU is a special commodity trade industry association that has been supporting operators in Finland and internationally since 1920. Formerly known as The Association of Products and Services, ETU represents 13 industries and around 900 member companies in the multi-channel trade.
Despite being in a field that is often associated with conservatism and formality, ETU has a unique culture and attitude towards clients and business that is all about personal involvement, drive, and a genuine desire to help. We were inspired by this ethos and set out to create a website that reflects their personality and showcases their strengths in a creative and inspiring way.
How do you update a website for an organization in the special commodity trade industry, highlighting their unique strengths and culture, while also making it more blog-oriented and aligned with their new branding?
I tackled this challenge by working closely with ETU to understand their needs and create a website that truly represents who they are and what they stand for. We implemented a blog-oriented approach that enables ETU to highlight various aspects of their work and show how they can help their members succeed in the ever-changing world of special commodity trade.
Our goal was to ensure that the new website accurately reflects ETU's culture and attitude towards clients and business, while also utilizing the latest web design techniques and technologies. This required a deep understanding of their brand personality and values, as well as a mastery of the latest web design trends and best practices.
UX research, UI design
I’ve approached the challenge of updating ETU's website and making it more blog-oriented with a thorough and collaborative design process. The main goal was to create a website that accurately reflects ETU's culture and values, while also highlighting their unique strengths in the special commodity trade industry.
To start, i worked closely with ETU to understand their needs and identify the key aspects of their work that i wanted to highlight. This involved conducting interviews and workshops with their team, analyzing their existing website and branding, and researching the latest web design trends.
Based on this research, i developed a design concept that focused on creating a clean, modern, and engaging website that was optimized for blog content. I’ve updated the website's visual identity and branding to align with ETU's new branding, and worked in collaboration with the Robotics Company to create a market statistics page and infographic that would complement the website's content.
Rough sketches were done to get my initial thoughts on paper and brainstorm new ideas for specific UI elements.
Using the feedback and insights gained from research, analysis and sketching, a low-fidelity prototype was created to begin user testing.
Throughout the design process, i emphasized collaboration and communication with ETU and the Robotix Company to ensure that we were meeting their needs and vision for the website. We regularly shared design iterations and prototypes, gathered feedback, and made revisions as needed.
The end result is a visually appealing, informative, and engaging website that showcases ETU's unique personality and strengths. We're proud of what we achieved together with ETU and invite you to check out the website to see how we solved this challenging problem.
